Statement of Philosophy

Healing Tradition

I grew up around an all-inclusive healing tradition which has greatly influenced my approach to patient care. For over 15 years I have integrated cutting-edge nutritional science with complementary and alternative modalities to help those afflicted with chronic digestive illness return to optimum health.

Ancient Secrets of Healing

Ayurvedic medicine (AM) and Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) have been used for thousands of years to heal using a whole systems approach. The mind, body and spirit are addressed in facilitating the restoration of health. Proper diet, balancing one’s lifestyle and healthy relationships are the cornerstones of therapy. These Eastern principles of healthcare have been termed “complementary and alternative medicine” (CAM).

Research studies have shown that approximately 1 in 3 Americans and 1 in 2 with a digestive illness use at least one form of CAM. Consumers are looking for safer options to improve their health. Scientific evidence supporting the use of CAM has shown its effectiveness in preventing and treating illness.

Food as Medicine

“Leave your drugs in the chemist’s pot if you can cure the patient with food. Our medicine should be food and food should be our medicine”.
Hippocrates in 420 BC;

I utilize the latest nutritional science in concert with proper diet to meet an individual’s needs. Collaborating with licensed nutritionists and registered dietitians with expertise in digestive health, we deliver personalized meal plans. Our approach is cutting edge and effective.

Why Integrative Medicine?

Digestive disease afflicts 60-70 million Americans according to the National Institutes of Health. Many digestive disorders can be alleviated by proper diet, lifestyle modifications, judicious use of nutraceutical and herbal formulations, as well as mind-body relaxation techniques. Integrative medicine blends the best of natural with conventional medicine.

I address digestive illness under the tenant that the body can heal itself if given a chance. The doctor/patient relationship should also be considered as a key factor in treatment outcomes.

My Approach

An individual is a unique being, capable of improving their own health and wellness with proper counseling, diet and lifestyle modifications. I strive to optimize health by achieving balance with a personalized plan. I integrate and blend the best of both Eastern and Western (conventional) medicines in order to help patients overcome their digestive illness.

Our relationship is a partnership. Your health and vitality is my ultimate goal.
